Stanley Mason was a Nova Scotia resident for most of his life. He worked for many years as a fisherman, fishing for lobster, salmon, cod, and cultivating oysters. He ran a campground for many years with his wife Patricia in the Merigomish area of Pictou County, Nova Scotia. In his later years Stanley took up painting and became a successful folk artist. He was the husband of Patricia Thompson Mason and the uncle of Reginald "Dutch" Thompson.
