Robert Ernest Robertson was born in 1904 in Kingsboro, Prince Edward Island. He lived in Kingsboro and Souris area for the vast majority of his life, excluding an 8 year period in which he left home to work in the United States. He was brought back by a yearning for Prince Edward Island and the sea.
Upon his return Robert bought a boat and fished with his brother at Basin Head. Together they lived through the November 18th, 1929 earthquake that hit Prince Edward Island after a vicious tidal wave that struck Newfoundland. Fishing was his passion and he was involved with the sea for over 60 years. Even in his nineties, while he lived alone, cooked his own meals and lived independently, he would help his sons each summer at their fish markets.
Robert died of Prostate Cancer at Colville Manor in Souris on September 23rd, 2003 at the age of 100. He was the husband of Muriel Robertson, a father of 3, grandfather of 9, and great grandfather of 8.
