Scope and Content

    This series consists of a detailed inventory of the Gaelic field recording project conducted by Dr. John Shaw in 1987. The project inventory, created by Dr. Michael Kennedy in 2002, includes a preface, a brief history of Gaelic on Prince Edward Island, an edited copy of Dr. Shaw’s final report, brief biographies of the project informants, a list of musicians who appear on the project recordings, a detailed index to the reel-to-reel audio and videocassette tapes (including summaries of each interview), and typed field notes. The series also includes an excerpt from Compass profiling Dr. John Shaw interviewing Rev. Donald Nicholson (14 September 1987).
