Abstract
This interview with Raymond Patton begins with a discussion of his father's work as a blacksmith. The conversation then moves on to farming, then on to the Mason family and fishing. Raymond goes on to tell about Ed and Tiny Mason, as story about his father Scott going to town for coal, and working in the woods. Raymond and Dutch discuss the Halifax Explosion, Ray learning to play the fiddle, and Luther MacDonald's dance hall. They then discuss emigration and mussel mud, then go on to further talk about the fiddle and dances. Ray tells about Harry Mosher, music lessons, maple sugar, George Smith and family, selling pulp and beef, school and chores, and Fen Thompson. Ray then talks about the Thompson family, and he and Dutch discuss family history and relations. The interview finishes with a discussion of the biggest changes in Pictou county over the years, Barker's stores, and the Patton family history.

In this interview with Mike Avery he talks about his father's general store and the railway system being good for business, a job patrolling the tracks for debris, a trolly accident on the rails in Scotchfot, railway watches, joining the railway, the last person hired, the trucking industry, and trying to get rid of the railway.
