Abstract
Paul Stordy interviews Mr. Ray McCarvill who has a wealth of knowledge family tree on his mother's and father's side. Mr. McCarvill talks about the occupations held in the early days, the house he grew up in that was partially built by his father, early entertainment organized by the BIS and the changes that came to Emerald community. In addition, he also talks about his school years and the mentions teachers who taught him, the building of a new church and his work in the Riverside Hospital.

Paul Stordy interviews Mother Ethel Duffey who resides at the Sacred Heart Home. Mother Duffey talks about the famine that brought on disease, her family tree as well as marriages and occupation. Cardinal McGuigan, ships coming to Charlottetown and the structures used to keep homes warm. She also mentions the average life structure for people in the early days (Church, farming, pastimes which may have been dances etc) and families of that day. She then goes on to mention intermarriages, miscarriages, customs including wakes and courtship; and tells the story of a Thunderstorm which killed two people.

Paul Stordy interviews Joe and Lena Carragher. They both start of by speaking about their family tree and Irish connections. They talked about where their families resided. He speaks about thunderstorms and how a barn was burnt. They speak about wakes, dances and weddings - entertainment in the early days.

They discuss processing flax and making things by hand, Father Duffy and his grave, the naming of Kelly's Cross and Desable.
